Between 2019 and 2026, the Safety and Spirituality Project, led by the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence (API-GBV), mobilized three distinct partnerships to transform how Asian immigrant faith communities prevent and respond to domestic violence and sexual assault (DV/SA). Operating within Taiwanese Christian, Punjabi Sikh, and Korean Christian networks, the project recognized that while faith leaders are often the primary cultural anchors community members turn to during crisis, they historically received little to no preparation to safely handle abuse disclosures.

This report documents the experiences, lessons, and recommendations that emerged. The findings presented here are drawn from comprehensive project documentation and the deep, reflective insights of the three project partners. Together, these sources provide a window into the documented accomplishments of their efforts, the relationships they cultivated, the strategies they refined, and the lasting community changes that developed over the seven years of this project.
