Webinar Overview
This webinar will provide culturally specific service providers, advocates, and legal professionals with practical guidance on survivor privacy, confidentiality obligations, and privilege considerations in victim services settings. The session will explain why strong confidentiality policies are essential to survivor safety and program integrity, clarify the differences between confidentiality and privilege, and review how federal grant requirements under FVPSA, VAWA, and VOCA apply to survivor information.
Presenters will also discuss related legal frameworks, including state privilege laws and other federal considerations that may arise in practice. The webinar will include practical discussion of recordkeeping, electronic files, responding to requests for client information, and strengthening organizational policies to protect survivor privacy in real-world service delivery contexts.
